Elite eight day two update

Defending women’s opens Elite Eight champions New South Wales Mets pulled off a great win over NSW Scorpions in the fourth round of the series at Coffs Harbour’s BCU International Stadium this morning.

The Mets won 8-5, which catapulted them into second spot heading into the fifth round this afternoon.

The Queensland Chiefs remain the only team undefeated in the women’s opens competition following their 7-2 victory over the NSW Rebels.

The Alliance have moved into fourth position thanks to a 7-5 win over the Queensland South Stingrays.

In the final round four match in the women’s opens, NSW Country Mavericks defeated the Queensland Country Outlaws 7-3.

This afternoon the mouth-watering clashes continue with the Mavericks meeting the Alliance, Outlaws taking on the Mets, the Rebels up against the Stingrays, and in a huge clash the Scorpions go head-to-head with leaders the Chiefs.

In the men’s opens competition, the Mets and the Outlaws are the top two teams and they both remain undefeated.

The Mets got revenge over the Scorpions 8-6 in round four.

The two sides have played in the last two men’s opens finals with the Scorpions winning both deciders.

Meanwhile, the Outlaws were too slick for their country counterparts from NSW.

Led by Dan Withers, the Queensland side took out the match 6-4.

The Stingrays leapfrogged the Alliance into fourth position after their 6-4 victory this morning while the Chiefs kept the Rebels anchored at the bottom of the table by defeating the NSW side 6-4.

In the fifth round, the Mavericks take on the Alliance, Scorpions link up with the Chiefs, Rebels meet the Stingrays.

The match of the round will see the top two and undefeated teams, Outlaws and Mets, lock horns.
